Five for Friday

                                 fiveforfriday2_thumb[3]

I am so excited to link up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for my first Five for Friday weekly linky party!  I have included some random facts about my week and look forward to sharing more exciting information once school starts up again!

My daughter is finally getting tubes next week!! HOORAY! This is so exciting for our family as she has had an ear infections since July 2nd! Poor thing!

My committee at school got together this week, before school starts, to finalize our Positive Behavior Interventions and Support and how we will be rolling out PBIS in our building! We are so excited to have consistent rules and language throughout our entire building and in all rooms! I cannot wait to roll this out next week!!

These are two books that I have been reading this summer to prepare for my new role as an Early Childhood Inclusive Education Coach! I am so excited about this new role and new job I will be taking at the beginning of September!

My first Donor's Choose project was fully funded! We will be having our special education students create and maintain a coffee shop for our teachers! We were inspired by Breezy Special Ed and there blog post on their coffee shop!

This is one of my favorite websites! PBISWorld.com  If you have never checked out this website and you have students with difficult behaviors bookmark this! It's free and amazing!  First you will be given a list of behaviors and when you click on the behavior you are given Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3 and data tracking forms! It will give you ideas on how to support that behavior as well as suggestions and reasons why!

Thanks for checking out my site! I look forward to having more meaningful posts soon!

Workbasket Wednesday: Sorting Colors!

I am so excited to be linking up with Autism Classroom Resource for Workbasket Wednesday!

If you haven't checked out Autism Classroom Resources yet you should! Click on the picture and it will take you to her wonderful site!

Last year when I started Work Jobs I was in an ECSE classroom and I am so passionate about this as I saw how my students thrived and how independent they became throughout the year.

This Wednesday I will be blogging about color sorting workbaskets!  Here are some of my favorites!

I found these cute containers from Michael's Craft Store and put corresponding colored pom poms in the box for students to sort. I had a total of six containers and generally gave students three at a time, which gave me two work boxes! :)

I went to the Dollar Tree and bought a bag of pony beads and then needed to figure out what to do with them!  A great color matching and fine motor task was to put pony beads on corresponding pipe cleaners.  Depending on students I would only put a few pony beads in the box.

I had a lot of pony beads left over so I decided to use them again! This time I use these small containers at the Dollar Tree (there were 9 in the pack!) and glued a color bead on the bottom of each container as well as the top so students knew where the beads were intended to go.

Here is one more color sorting activity! This one is free in my TPT store so click on the picture and download it!! Students receive a board (as seen above), six yellow pictures and three non-yellow pictures.  Students are suppose to find all the yellow pieces. I plan on creating more colors to go with this pack, but this was what one of my students was focusing on at the end of the year last year! :)

Thanks for checking out my blog and I hope you found it useful!

Creating Work Jobs with What you have!

I blogged about Work Jobs back in July and it is something that I have a true passion and love for! If you aren't sure what work jobs are you will want to check it out!

Another important point about work jobs is there needs to be beginning and a clear ending. On Pinterest you will find lots of busy bag ideas but the majority of those are playing and don't really have a clear ending, which is something you need to avoid!

I wanted to give you some ideas of work jobs you can make with things that you probably already have in your classroom or home!

I usually took a picture of what I wanted the student to do, laminated it and then hot glued it to the top of my containers. The lamination makes it EASY to take the pictures off once you want to switch work jobs.

Pop Beads: Depending on your student they can take them apart or put them together.
Students can put together the lego's or take them apart!

1 inch blocks. A little harder than lego's and students can put them together or take them apart
Once students have mastered putting the 1 inch blocks together mix up the blocks and have them put the towers together based on colors. You can also make a pattern that the students should duplicate.
I got some medicine containers (FREE from Meijer) and the student had to put one mini eraser and/or counters into each day spot. I switched erasers and/or counters for different holidays or seasons.

I took an old (washed) Parmesan Cheese container and depending on the age and ability you can have them put in poker chips, small beads, Q-tips (through the circle holes), or tooth picks.

I don't have a picture of it but I also used washed icing containers, cut a circle hole in the top and the students put marble into it!  That was a favorite for my students!

When I got new students and wasn't sure of their ability to do tasks on their own these are always good ones to start with!

I just created a Back to School Work Jobs packet that can be found on TPT at my store!
All you'll have to do is print, laminate, cut some pieces and add velcro and you will have 31 work jobs! Check it out it's on sale August 3rd-4th!

Here are just a few of the many work jobs that you will get in the Back to School Packet that I created!

I plan on blogging about different color sorting and color work jobs on Wednesday! Hope that I've got your mind turning for ideas you can use in your classroom!

Currently August 2015

Today I am teaming up with Oh' Boy 4th Grade for what I am currently doing!

I am LISTENING to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse in the background. I've got a sick little one who has been fighting an ear infection since July 2nd!! Poor thing!

I am LOVING the TPT sale that starts tomorrow! Need to stock up on some awesome supplies and clip art!

I am THINKING I need to get outside and enjoy the weather before it gets too hot! I would love for it to be 75-80 degrees daily, but I guess it's not snowing so I won't complain!

I am WANTING another day this weekend to spend with the family!  Never enough time during the weekend!

I NEED to fold laundry....this is my least favorite part of doing laundry! I don't know about you but my clothes hangers seem to disapear and each time I am always one short!

My B2S RAK will be leaving encouraging notes in mailboxes of teachers that I am consulting with! I feel that consultants are so busy they come in a few times and then don't always check back as much as teachers would like but my goal is to keep checking back and leaving encouraging notes to teachers because I know that turns my day around 110%!

If you want to participate in this fun link up go on over to Oh' Boy 4th Grade!
